Eikando Zenrinji Temple

One of the largest temples in Kyoto, Zenrinji is located at the fringe of the Kyoto Higashiyama (east mountains) area, and in turn has a beautiful sea of red leaves in and around it's grounds during autumn. Eikando Zenrinji's namesake, the monk known as Eikan, is said to have spoken to the famous statue of the Amida Buddah with it's head facing away!
