Built during the Tokugawa Shogunate's reign, and celebrated the 400th year since it's construction in 2005, Nijo Castle is one of Japan's illustrious World Heritage Sites! Nijo Castle was home to the appointment of Shogun, as well as the return of power to the emperor, marking it as the stage where both the birth and the death of the Edo Era, as well as the Tokugawa Shogunate.
