Feel revitalised by the beautiful garden of the historic villa of a wealthy merchant family, the Mitsui Family.

The Old Mitsui Family Shimogamo Villa was constructed in the south of Shimogamo Shrine as a villa for all 11 Mitsui Families by Hachiro-emon Takamine Mitsui, the 10th head of Mitsui Kita Family (the head family of all Mitsui families). Since the buildings in the premises, which were built from Meiji to Taisho period, have been maintained in a great condition and have high historical value, the villa was designated as an Important Cultural Property in 2011. You can enjoy the beautiful garden and its architecture there.
