From the midwinter to the beginning of spring, the Japanese carmellias are in bloom; in the summer, the rhododendrons; around July, the cape jasmines; in early autumn, the cotton rose; all adorn the gorgeous Seiren-tei garden scenery with vivid colours.
To the east side of the Seiren-tei garden is a Japanese carmellia tree more than 400 years old that blooms bright pink.
The refreshingly cool scenery is another highlight.
To the north, the Seiren-tei tearoom projects an atmosphere of calm and quiet, with a humility and a loneliness about it.
To the east of the northern garden is Shinji Pond, the very scenery of which is peaceful and quiet.
It's an amazing experience to simply gaze out at the scenery while enjoying some matcha and sweets. (500 yen)
After the repair of Hojo, an exhibition of the temple's treasures will be opened once a year; don't miss out!
