You can make cute patterned beads really easily!

Straight off Otaru Canal and in the middle of Sakai Machi Street is Otaru Glass Akari in Irodoriya, where you can make your own super popular "tonbo" patterned glass beads.
In the city of Otaru there are a number of glass workshops, but this is the only one where you can make "tonbo" beads with cute animal prints. Glass rods are softened and melted by a burner then gradually shaped, and before you know it your creation is complete!

The work lasts around 15 minutes, and prices start at just ¥500. Cooling and processing take around 2 hours, so definitely take that opportunity to wander around Sakai Michi Street and Otaru Canal♪
