On the way to Kiyomizu temple lies this incredibly popular Japanese sweet shop on Kiyomizu street. It's always bustling with people on their way to Kiyomizu Temple and those heading back from their prayers who want a quick rest.
The source of the constant sweet aroma is the mitarashi (sweet soy sauce) dango people take away and eat in the streets; we can't recommend them enough! (¥150 per skewer)
The baked dango are covered in loads of sweet and salty mitarashi sauce; one bite and you won't be able to stop!
Other popular treats are kakigori shaved ice and parfaits, available in the spring and summer only. There is also an eat-in space where you can take your time and enjoy your snack.
