Morihachi Castle
About a 5 minute walk from Tokyo Sky Tree.
One day, a great castle appeared as if out of no where in the middle of down town Sumida. Perhaps even more surprisingly, the castle was actually home to a Japanese sweets shop.
The name of the store is "Oshiro Morihachi", and has been primarily making monaka (bean-jam-filled wafers) with large chestnuts inside, yokan (sweet bean jelly), manju (traditional bean paste filled Japanese cakes), dorayaki, and the other products since 1933.
The second generation owner takes tradition recipes and combined it with new technology to create his special red bean paste.
The owner says that this castle took only 2 years to build from scratch, and the reason why he built the store as a castle was due to his father having a love for castles.
From the outside, it even looks comparable to real Japanese castles! There are also twenty-four beautiful paintings of "the beauties of nature" on the upside wall.
Also, the castle is lit up from sunset until 19:00.
